Who We Are
Family Matters In-Home Care is a Christian Faith-Based company devoted to providing the most committed, highly qualified and carefully selected caregivers in the industry. Our caregivers are OUR employees, thoroughly interviewed, screened and background-checked (state and national), trained and oriented, bonded and insured. We have rigorous hiring practices in which all applicants go through tests and screenings focusing on skills, experience, attitudes and placement into homes. Many of our staff members have extensive experience caring for Alzheimer’s and dementia patients. Most importantly, each and every one of our caregivers must be honest, warm and caring.
Blanca Gonzalez was born in Mexico in December of 1960. She grew up in Houston, Texas where she attended Stephen F. Austin High School. Blanca took various continuing education courses, sponsored by the various employers throughout her career. She later met her husband, Mark and they were married in April of 1981. Two beautiful daughters and three grandchildren later, she and Mark live in Jackson, Georgia. They are currently Missions Directors at the church they attend in Covington, GA. This includes some foreign missions, but primarily focuses on local missions. Blanca has a heart for working with children, teens, and young and senior adults.
Blanca worked in the insurance industry for 15 years while in Houston, TX. She worked at The Hartford, in claims, loss control and concluded with contract and fidelity underwriting. In 2000, Blanca and Mark moved to Marietta, GA due to a job transfer for Mark. Blanca and Mark later opened StraightWaves, a telecommunications engineering firm and handled contracts domestically and internationally. They opened a second office in Mexico City. Blanca handled the administrative and financial affairs for the company. In 2004, StraightWaves merged with Communication Infrastructure Corp. Blanca then went on to do some mortgage underwriting for several years. In 2010, Blanca returned to the telecommunications industry doing consulting project management for AT&T. This included end-to-end project management dealing with all aspects of the projects including team management, client management, vendor management, budgeting, forecasting, installation, integration and monitoring.
During her time in Georgia, Blanca was one of the caregivers for her aunt Jovita who suffered with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Soon after Jovita passed away, Blanca along with her mom and sisters cared for her Dad who had cancer. He was bed-ridden for 6 months before he lost the battle to cancer. These events lead to the onset of starting a new business, Family Matters In-Home Care in 2016.
Mark Gonzalez was raised in San Antonio Texas. After graduating from Harlendale he moved to Houston where he met and married Blanca in 1981. They pastored churches in east Texas and Houston for the first 7 years of their marriage. During that time he learned about ministering to the needs of others. He was blessed with 2 daughters where he raised them in Houston. Mark studied at the University of Houston and begin his engineering career specializing in the telecommunications field.
He started as a microwave path surveyor and quickly moved up to managing the engineering team. Mark started his own engineering company in 1995 and built microwave paths throughout the US, Mx and abroad. In 2001 he merged his company with another firm to service the full needs of building microwave networks in the US. During this time he moved to Jackson Georgia to be close to his daughters and their families.
In 2016 Mark and his wife Blanca saw the need for a Christ centered senior care ministry that can minister to the needs of the growing elderly population. Seeing his parents struggle with finding a quality care giver, they set out to become the solution to that need in the southern counties of Atlanta.
Currently Mark and Blanca are mission directors at their church and participate in meeting the needs of area families and seniors. Family Matters In-Home Care was birthed. Here they are able to minister to the needs of aging seniors where they spend time documenting their lives in a book form while caring for the needs of each one. Family Matters help seniors live in their own homes by assisting them in the needs of daily home living. Care givers will help with the household choirs, cooking, run errands and take the client to their meetings and appointments. Caring for the needs of the elderly is their passion as they fulfill their life’s calling of helping others.
